Update On The Scariest House In Greenwich Village

It was only just over a week ago — Halloween day, actually — that I had a post on the scariest houses in Greenwich Village. As the scariest house of all, I picked the one at 80 Washington Place, which had recently been the alleged site of rigged poker games where wealthy marks had gotten fleeced out of millions of dollars.

Today, in a weekly column titled “Gimme Shelter,” the New York Post provides an update on that very house. It’s on the market! The headline is “Luxury NYC pad used in the NBA gambling scandal has listed for $22.5M — mere weeks after massive bust.”

Here is the picture of the house that I took and included in my October 31 post:

It turns out that someone did a no-expense-spared renovation of this place back in 2011. The Post includes multiple pictures from the real estate listing. Here’s a shot of the back of the building:

The kitchen and dining room:

Master bedroom — with fireplace!

It’s a total of 8700 square feet. Six bedrooms, six bathrooms, and three half-baths. There are four landscaped terraces, in addition to the backyard. And it’s just steps from Washington Square Park, with views of both that park and of One World Trade Center.

And the whole thing can be yours for only $22.5 million. You could pay for it all with just a few quick poker games.
